Is anyone using Turtle Beach Elite 800s? Question about functionality with a phone

Hey everyone,

I have been trying to get this question answered for close to a week now and haven't gotten anywhere - not even from Turtle Beach support on twitter or facebook.

I need wireless headphones, both wireless from the PS4 (I sit far away on a couch and cables are a tripping hazard), and wireless from the controller (I often have a newborn in my arms, so wires between the controller and my headset aren't an option). I am currently using a PS Gold headset, but for games with a lot of orchestral music I find they can often sound kinda crappy, kinda like an AM radio. Plus, my clan uses discord. It's hard to use an over-the-ear headset + find a way to talk on discord. So I need something that can do both.

According to the docs, the elite 800's can connect to your PS4 via the base station AND connect to your mobile device via bluetooth. Then it is supposed to be able to intelligently mix the two. According to the docs, you can make and receive calls via bluetooth in call mode, or use it to play music via stereo mode. What's missing here is voice chat apps like discord running on my cell phone.

So, folks who have elite 800s, can you have them connected to your PS4 to get in-game audio, and use an app like discord on your cell phone for voice chat via bluetooth? Or does the headset always assume voice chat is supposed to go to the PS4 unless it is in a "bluetooth call?" Does it treat voice apps like a "voice call"?

I just want clarity before I dump the hefty amount of cash on them.
