What is up with the psn usernames?

I just today bought a ps4 and begun creating a psn profile. My original name was taken so I proceeded to change it a bit. I tried different variations and proceeded to make it yGiftea. Soon an error came up ( in fact a few times ) and I had to start the profile creating all over. Now the yGiftea name is taken even though it wasn't a few minutes ago. That seemed to happen for the other variations I came up with as well?
