Controller won't charge, not USB's fault

So I went to go get a wet towel to clean my controller. Some water got into the charging port so I turn the controller upside down to try to get some drops out. I notice that my controller needs to charge, so I charge it, but it doesn't charge. I decide to hook it up to my phone case that charges my phone and it works. So I know that it's probably because of the charging port. How can I fix this?
