Haven't bought a console in a long time and in Japan where there are a couple of cool limited edition ones cheaper than normal consoles where I live. Are there any downsides to having a Japanese region PS4 if you usually live in a western country?

I know accounts are region bound, but I'd continue using my Australian account if possible.
