Never played a Souls game and just got Bloodborne as a birthday gift

And I can't pass the "2nd level", 2nd level being after killing the wolf thing, after passing all those crazy people I always find some different fatty or large thing that kill me I'm now I'm out of heals.

I knew that SoulsBorne games were hard but jeez, I'm sucking hella hard on it, any tips?
