Controller out of warranty, other options?

I bought my ps4 in feb 2014 and the controller it came with is having issues with the left joystick where it lags in directions or does not change direction at all. Playstation chat said theres only a 1 yr warranty and they cannot help me. Anything else I can do or is it toast? Ive tried to disassemble it and make sure there wasn't debris inside causing this.
