So this week early I bit the bullet and decided to expand my console collection to its fullest - next to my XBOne and Nintendo Switch, I bought a PS4.
To keep things in shape, I opted for the Destiny Edition, since it was nice white.
Apart from a few little hassles, like the settings being a bit thrown together instead of well thought out, it's fine. However I have two major issues:
1, The controller I got, while feels solid, has some rough edges, literally. On the Xbox One controller, you have these small gaps and whatnot, but those have a function, are uniform, and have smoothed edges - and are visibly MEANT to be there. On my PS4 controller, I have random edges around the bottom part of the grip (where the textured bottom meets the top white cover), and it is especially prominent on the left side, where it can literally cut ones hand if there's a fast movement or stronger grip.
2, First I thought this was a Destiny 2 issue, but it isn't. After starting the console, for the first hour or so, there will be random cutouts of HDMI singal. No picture, no sound, just a few seconds of darkness. Signal is not lost, since my TV would detect it, but there's nothing coming out.
For now I only have the PS4, no Camera, no VR headset (I plan to buy the new one once it's available in Hungary), no accessories, just the single USB charging cable plugged into the back.
As for the rest of the shortcomings of the platform (PSN account cannot be moved to a different country, cannot change PSN name, etc.), I'm trying to get okay with it, but it's hard. I mean, everyone says how superior the PS4 is to the Xbox One series, but so far all I saw was that Microsoft is providing tons more to its users, and all PS4 has is a UI from circa 2012, and platform exclusives.
So back to my two major issues - should I get a replacement? Or are both of these issues known and won't warrant a replacement within warranty?
