Out of the loop, what happened to PS1 games on PS4?

So back when the PS4 first came out I retired my PS3 and I remembered putting in the PS1 Tarzan game and playing it off the PS4. Fast forward to today and realizing it’s not possible now can anyone explain why or what happened?
