Weird controller issue.

 I am having a strange controller issue. The controller works perfect in the menu's but when I enter a game...like Horizon Zero Dawn I get to the main menu and I here clicking like its being pressed up on the D-Pad. The controller is completely unresponsive other then the Home button to get back to the dashboard. I have tried resetting the controller via the pin hole and re-syncing it. I have also tried deleting the controller from settings.... still same issue. I have another controller that has no issues at all. Anyone have any ideas? BTW it's about 2 years old.
