[Discussion] Help: Having a hard time being satisfied with/choosing a new shooter...Is this just an awkward "inbetween" period to be into FPS games?

Hoping someone with similar tastes can help, and answer any questions people feeling the same thing may have-- I'm not MLG but I do play primarily FPS games, and aside from being into Destiny heavily up until a couple months ago, I've been extremely let down by a lot of the recent games on PS4. I'm having a hard time deciding if I should pull trigger on something older, current, or hold out for something on the horizon. I searched and read a bunch of threads but the reality is, there's rarely feedback that isn't "Buy it dude you won't regret it!". I sub a few different game subreddits and see a lot of disillusionment, so I know I'm not alone in this recent trend of being let down. Here's what games I'm aware of, have considered, or am currently playing:

--Destiny 2: Skeptical that a lot of the core issues with balance have been solved, and want to see how it launches before deciding if I want to be part of Bungie's public learning experience again; ) I know the beta is launching soon, but guess I should stress the

--Battlefield 1: Battlefield 3 was one of my favorite games on last gen. I skipped Battlefield 4 since I didn't get a ps4 until Destiny launched, and regret it everyday. I loved BF1 when it launched, and it's a very well made game...but the lack of weapon complexity, the DLC/Premium model, and a steady trickle of technical issues have kind of ruined it for me. Something about the gameplay of the previous BF games feels stripped out...

--Battlefield 4: I want to buy it but 1) Server population/I'm worried about how much life the servers have in them this late in the lifespan, 2) If the game is showing too much age at this point, 3) Whether I have to commit to Premium/paying full price this long after a game's launch in order to fully enjoy it. It DOES look to capture all the things I loved about BF3...

--Titanfall 2: Played it during the open weekend and enjoyed it. It seemed to play to my strengths and I was able to go positive while having a blast and learning the mechanics. It did feel a little to dense and random at times, and I wonder if the pure chaos of the Titans would wear off and become frustrating as someone who likes an element of strategy. The maps felt smaller than I was expecting. Maybe the time-to-kill feels a little too fast for my tastes? I've heard that population is a consistent issue that gets glossed over.

--Rainbow Six Siege: Played it during the open weekend, and I haven't had that much fun being terrible at something in a long time. The duration of matches was a little offputting, since aside from BF games I'm used to 10ish minute matches. I liked the tension the game offered, but found the community a little intimidating and serious. I had this feeling that it'd be hard to find a lobby where players were willing to laugh at mistakes...it was a tough sell considering someone team killed me for walking in the wrong direction in my first match, haha. I've also heard bad things about the servers and population.

--Overwatch: Never played it...but the art style is a tough sell for me, personally. When I watch streams of the gameplay, I worry I'm feeling my age as a gamer because it just looks like gibberish to me. I think I worry that will translate as an "always sweaty" experience, and not be something I ever want to play casually as well. I do like the idea of locked weapons instead of grinding/RNG based weapons a lot, though...Destiny's balance issues have left me scarred for life.

--Rocket League: Used to love it but got frustrated with matchmaking as a solo player. Lag also became an issue and I felt like ranking up/down was imbalanced...At the end of the day it's not dense enough to scratch the full PvP itch I have.

--Call of Duty: Haven't play a CoD title since maybe Blops2? The TTK is too short, and the mechanics/microstransaction model are not to my liking.

So has anyone else had this issue, or have similar tastes? Is there something awesome I've completely slept on? Is there something on the horizon everyone else is following closely and holding out for? Do I just need to get gud scRub? Am I just a loser because I don't team up with other players, and am missing out on the real experience?
