Looking to dive into FIFA series. 2017 or hold off for 2018?

I haven't really played a FIFA game since the SNES but getting an itch now that I'm back into console gaming on the PS4. What's the general consensis for someone like me, to get the cheaper 2017 or hold off for some big things in 2018?

Also as a newbie, any tips on gitting-gud?
