So I never really owned a playstation (or xbox) before. The only console I every had was a nintendo clone which I played Super mario bros and duck hunt on.
I do have a reasonably good pc I built for gaming a couple of years ago. It's a bit long in teeth, but still plays witcher 3 on high settings while keeping the frames in high 50s.
The main reason for me buying a playstation was the exclusives. I've never been a part of pc vs console flame wars. Each have their own pros and cons. Games are where it's at. All the PS exclusives that my colleagues and friends kept raving about finally pushed me over the edge. Decided to treat myself to a pro for my birthday.
Didn't get any bundles (not sure if ps pro are coming bundled yet) to choose from. Went with TLOU and Driveclub as my first game purchases.
Now here's the meat of it. I somehow love the simplicity of being able to pop in a disc and play games (just like I did on my nintendo clone). Agreed, it took some time to get a little comfortable shooting with controller, but overall I fucking enjoyed the TLOU. Finally got in the know of why everyone keeps swearing their lives for it. In retrospect though, I think I'd have liked it even more if I hadn't gone in already hyped to maximum.
Driveclub's graphics have no competition, which is saying something considering it's multiple years old. Sure, there are better driving games, with better resolutions, texture details etc. But none I've played so far (and I've played forza horizon 3) overall look so damn realistic. That said, I don't quite dig the arcade handling of cars, but it still is a good game I find myself playing sometimes.
Playing uncharted trilogy right now and absolutely loving it. Not a big fan of the first game, since my expectation is skewed by the current generation of games, but it was still good. I was expecting slogging through shitty graphics from a 10 year old game, but the remastered version I have kinda surprised me. It was a teensy bit claustrophobic because of its environment size, but again, a nice game overall. Among thieves though, is probably one of the best games I've played. nuf said. So far, drake's deception is living up to it.
Overall, I've been absolutely loving my PS. I've got it hooked to my monitor right now, and plug in my headphones to controller for audio. Does anyone have a recommendation on an audio solution I can look at?
What are some of the games you'd recommend I should play? I've got HZD delivered (will play after uncharted) and uncharted 4 in transit (will probably play this to complete the series before beginning HZD). At some point of time, I probably will buy witcher 3 for PS as well. The look of all those blue cases makes me wanna put more of those on the shelf :) I was never a fan of those cardboard boxes some of my PC games came in. PS4 games' packaging is heck of a lot more consistent.
Also, any other tips or tricks to check out?
