People that use a USB hun for their PS4, is it compatible with an external harddrive?

I ordered a USB hub which clicks onto the PS4. It has 1 USB 3.0 port, 1 dedicated charging port and 3 regular 2.0 ports. I want to connect an external harddrive, my headset and charge my controller at the same time. I'm pretty sure my headset and controller won't have any issues but will the external harddrive work with the USB hub?
