Playstation Customer Service

So recently had an experience where I couldn't purchase anything on PSN. Neither PayPal or Credit/Debit would work, all citing "inaccurate credit card information". Spoke with one rep, who told me that the information on the card linked to my paypal needed to match identically with what was in the PS account; which is literally impossible as banks use the 4 digit zip identifier with no hyphen (PSN requires the hyphen). Supervisor told me only the paypal information needed to match and not the debit card itself, which was already the case yet it still would not work.

Further, I contacted the bank to see if any charges had gone through or not, which they had not. The bank also called VISA to see if attempts were made, they were not. Essentially, PSN is using an address verification system to verify that the owner of the card is making the purchases HOWEVER, if the charge was not even attempted, how could PSN have verified the account information?

Sony's only solution, to what is a clear error on their side (as both paypal and 2 banks have told me), is to buy gift cards from a 3rd party.

I have the chat transcripts, which include conflicting information, but its too long to post here unless someone specifically wants to see.

TL;DR - Sony customer service gives conflicting information regarding a purchase problem, passes blame to banks, then offers only the option to buy gift cards from a 3rd party. I know there are a ton of people out there who deal with or have dealt with this issue. What is it going to take for this to be fixed?

Also, would it be worth it to contact real sony customer support and provide the chat logs showing the conflicting explanations?
