Ps4 controller power on button borked?

Hey guys, short story, my friend spilled "Vodka" on his ps4 controller, I confiscated I because he's a dumb dumb and basically I own it now, I took the thing apart and it didn't seem like there was any damage, sure, residue from the alcohol but I cleaned everything I physically could (wanted to put some stuff on the button board but just was feeling lazy) it worked fine before and after the cleaning! So I have a feeling this is not the issue.

Power forward to like maybe two or three weeks? I'm babysitting my grandfather, I grab out my controller out of my clothes packed backpack (so it was most likely safe) I attempt to turn it on, nothing comes on, I'm like okay, it's probably dead, I plug it into my laptop (I do not play with it on ps4 I don't own one) and the light bar turns on, my computer makes a jingle saying it's connected : I go "Cool" and let it sit for about two hours. After the wait I take it off it's charger, it won't power on again, this has me worried, from there I let it charge again and tried to power it on no luck once again, I give up and wait to take it apart when I get home

Fast forward again two days later, I wake up to hear the controller randomly turning on and off(maybe one or two seconds it's on before turning off) I go to test it, it won't turn on when I do press the button, so I go to test it when it's plugged in, oddly enough, the left stick controlls my laptop volume up and down, and something like the right trigger or bumper selects down when I'm in big picture mode for steam? Any help?

Edit: in big picture mode, it tells me there's a ps4 controller attached!
