So I've been doing some testing on my PS4 Pro. I'm using an Asus RT-AC87R. My internet is 200mb down and 20mb up. I've done about 50 connection tests.
When I tested the connection with Share Play, it said my speeds were not good enough. When my SO started her Share Play it also told her that the speeds weren't fast enough. Yet it still let us start up Share Play and the connection and quality seemed just fine.
If I hard wire into my router, I get around 7mb down and 1 mb up, with crazy fluctuations of up to 50mb down and .5mb up. After trying several things with my router, I don't really see much change besides these random fluctuations.
Hard wiring directly into my modem, I consistently see speeds of around 25mb down and 1mb up, and have not really seen the same kind of fluctuations.
When I use wireless I get speeds of around 35mb up and 1mb down, with fluctuations of .5mb down and .5 mb up.
My question is, what's going on? Why does it seem like wireless gives me better results than wired? How accurate is the Internet Connection Test on the PS4? Should I assume it's my router since I only see the fluctuations when it's involved? Are there any specific settings I should be using to improve performance?
