Yesterday, I brought my PS4 in for a check up in one of my local GSM repair stores (they also do consoles). The issue was that the fan was really loud during gameplay, I've had the console for over 2 years and I figured some dust might have accumulated inside during that time. It hasn't been switching off, no overheating, etc. just loud fan.
Today, they called me to tell me that according to their technician, the fan needs to be changed. They said this would cost €145 ($168) and that it would take up to 15 days as they need to ship it to their main repair center.
I immediately went online and found replacement fans for PS4 for as low as €15 on Amazon. How much is their labour going to cost if fans as that cheap?
I picked the console up today without making a decision and noticed that they hadn't even opened it -- the stickers on the back of it are still intact.
What do you guys think? Should I trust this repairs shop, seek a second opinion, or buy a fan from Amazon and ask them how much would they charge for labour? I'm trying to figure out if I'm getting ripped off.
