Screen goes black for one or two seconds

When watching Netflix or movies on my PS4, the screen randomly goes black for one or two seconds. Customer service at Sony suggested that I connect my console directly to my TV instead of my home theater. But is there anything else to do? Can I not use my PS4 and my sound system?
