Why did the PS4 close my game in rest mode? I'm so annoyed

i haven't played my ps4 much but today i put it into rest mode whilst playing a game. i did go to the home menu and then put it in rest mode because this game didn't really have a pause button and i didn't want the time i wasn't playing it to be added to my play time, if you get me

so i start it back up from rest mode (which doesn't seem to be any faster than starting it up normally) and it's closed my fucking game, which i hadn't saved. what the actual fuck? did i tell you to close my game? no!?

i also bought a nintendo switch recently and that doesn't close my fucking games for me. if i exit out to home menu and then put it into sleep mode, my game will still be as i left it days later. people are always slating nintendo but they're ahead on this

since the switch could do it, i assumed the ps4. it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't a visual novel where all you do is read
