Hey everyone. I recently bought Dark Souls III: The Fire Fades Edition (which is the GOTY edition of the game) to play on my slim PS4, about half a year old. When I tried to play the game, as usual the PS4 starts downloading an update and the disc starts spinning loudly to install the game.
However, after a while the disc stopped spinning, and then repeatedly started and stopped again. Then the PS4 started making all kinds of noises during that. I tried ejecting the disc, removing the data and installing again, but the same thing happened. Then, I rebooted the PS4 and reinstalled the game, but still no changes. Finally I let the noises continue, even though they sounded really bad, and started the game after the update had finished downloading. First the game gave me an "unreadable disc" error, but on my second try the game started. The opening movie stuttered however, and the noises continued throughout creating a character.
I tried other discs, but they worked perfectly. Also, I installed another game, without problems. I cleaned the disc of Dark Souls as well. There are similar topics on similar issues with Dark Souls, but none of them have any resolution or conclusion on what is happening or whether the OP solved the problem. Does anybody have any idea what is happening? Is this normal behavior while installing of Dark Souls III, or is there something else going on?
