Does quality of audio change depending on headset set up?

Hi, it's my first post so hi guys! Anyway I've got a question about the deterioration of audio as it travels through my audio set up.

Basically, I run a pair of turtle beach x12's and use another input for my mic.

I use the turtle beaches by connecting the audio in jack to the headphone socket in the tv and then in the ps settings I select audio out to TV/Amplifier. I then use a pair of beats laying on my desk as the input mic which goes into the controller.

My question is; will the audio set up change how I hear the sounds in game e.g footsteps? Or put differently; if I have all audio coming through the mic and used the turtle beaches as the input mic as well as the output would the quality be better?
