Is my PS4 constantly losing internet connection a sign that I may need to replace the console?

Recently, my PS4 has been nothing but trouble in regards to connecting to/staying connected to the internet. I bought the system back in November of 2014 in the Destiny bundle that came with a Glacier White model. Up until about 2 or 3 months ago, I've had minimal issues with my console connecting to/staying connected to online services, with any issues arising being easily attributed to "Oh, the internet is just acting up again, lemme power cycle the router and modem". However, in the last few months, any time I turn the PS4 on, the internet for the entire house immediately goes out and stays out until I shut the console off again, even if the PS4 is the only internet-enabled device turned on. On the rare occasions that the internet stays up, my PS4 is completely unable to stay connected to ANY online services, be it party chat, a game, the store, whatever, for more than 5 minutes before the internet goes out. However, as long as my PS4 is off, I have no internet issues whatsoever. I have my PS4 hooked up via an ethernet connection, and going to Wifi doesn't solve anything. I've ordered a new router and modem, since the existing ones are due to be replaced anyways, but I was curious if the PS4 acting like this with my internet was a sign of issues with the console as well, as I haven't found any sort of fixes/answers about this elsewhere online.
