I have an original ps4 bought 2 years ago, which recently broke and wasn't powering up, so i took it to a technician for repairs. It ended up being the CPU's power supply being faulty, and the guy who fixed it supposedly only cleaned it and replaced the broken supply.
After it came back it turns on and plays normally, except that the fan is now very loud when playing games, even those that do not demand much of the cpu and gpu. I thought that could be some kind of cooling problem, but the console isn't getting hot and it has a good air flow around it too, so it is more like the fan is always at max capacity even when not needed.
I asked the repair guy about it and he said that he didn't do anything related to the cooling system, and that when he first turned it on after fixing it always already like that. He also said that it could be a new update that was rolling out which is nonsense since the software version it came back with is the same it was before breaking.
He offered to replace the thermal paste (and charge for it) but also said that the thermal paste he had was of an inferior grade than the one the ps4 came with, so i declined. Could it really be the thermal paste? If so, is it difficult to replace it by myself?
