Resident evil 1 & 2

So i played these 2 back in the day on ps1 and have just noticed that there has been some remakes or remasters. I'm getting a bit confused with what is what. Is there a remake of both 1 & 2? Or are they just remasters? Whatever they are can i but them together on 1 disc? Or are they sold separately? Thanks
