Anyone playing Observer?

I'm at the point where you mindhack into Helena (think that's her name) and made it to a room where after some time a monitor is hanging from the ceiling and a baby is crying. There's a cable dangling down the monitor which I pulled many times, and a door in the back with a speaking console/keypad on the wall, but I can't interact with neither the door nor the console. A Google search brings up a steam topic with someone saying you gotta pull the cable, which I obviously did many times.

So then I managed to glitch out on top of the kitchen furniture somehow. I quit and started again, and not only does pulling the cable not amount to anything, but now the speaking console is floating in front of the door. Is my save bugged or am I missing something?
