Is buying games via PS Store risky?

I'd like to purchase a few games from the Playstation Store, but some people told me to get them physically instead because of possible risks that can come with buying them digitally (such as various errors, PS Store being down or even hackers).

Could you give me your opinions on that topic? Do you trust the PS Store or do you prefer to buy physical copies of games instead? I know those questions seem rather silly, but I really want to do my research before I purchase anything and I found this sub, so I thought I'd ask here.
