Is getting a Slim still a good purchase nowadays?

I really want to play PS4 exclusives in the future like Spiderman and I've missed out on games like Nioh and HZD so I want to grab those titles as well. There are Slim deals for like $220-230 where I live, but I was just wondering, will games still run fine on the base console in the future? If performance issues are going go be major problem I can shell out the extra money for the Pro but I'd rather not if it isn't a necessity
