Regular (non-gaming), cheap earbuds with mic that work on PS4? KZ brand?

I've tried a slew of regular earbuds with mics on my PS4, but so far none of their mics would work, only gaming-specific headsets have worked. I know that 4 pole 3.5mm jacks should work, but I've tried 3 different 4 pole adapters and none of them helped.

Any typical earbuds that you could recommend? Something that will work with both my phone and the PS4 would be awesome.

By the way, I know KZ brand headphones have gotten super high ratings, considering their price. Anyone tried their mics with their PS4?
