Severe input lag whenever my internet is slow

So whenever my internet gets slower, every single game that I own, including the PS4 main menu has severe input lag (like 1-2 seconds apart) and it's basically ruining this console for me. When my friends bring their controllers over it happens to them too. How do o fix this
