TLCR (Too long can't read): worried that CoD WWII will feel stale, with poor map design, same ol same ol CoD feel and won't fill that fun/casual FPS niche for me when I need a break from 'serious and competitive' Rainbow Six Siege.
Really on the fence on this one, just watched a bunch of reviews which range from negative (same old gameplay in WW2 settings, formula hasn't evolved or innovated enough, game will be 'dead' in few months post-launch, engine looks dated, maps too small, same ol Zombies mode, War mode is boring, Divisions suck, etc) and positive (boots on the ground is back, weapons feel good, aim assist removed (unsure if this is on console too), this CoD will be competitive, lots of maps at launch, game felt balanced (except PPSH), Sledgehammer did a good job, campaign looks solid, etc...))
I think I am in the negative camp. I am however looking for a more fun FPS game when I want to take a break from Rainbow Six Siege.
BF1 has become boring as the map design is shite. I play CoD AW currently as my chill FPS game as I like the cat-and-mouse gameplay which evens out the twitch skills. I also play a bit of Titanfall but somehow it doesn't hold my attention very long.
I am worried the map design for CoD WWII is too small and there are too many ways to flank, resulting in being shot constantly around every corner with no strategic thinking or tug of war feel to the maps.
I wish CoD would take what made the smaller scale battles of Battlefield Bad Company great (4v4 Rush!!) and merge it with CoD style of fast shooting (Call of Duty : Rush 1972). I think that is where they could find a perfect market niche.
Alternatively smart devs could just bring Rising Storm 2 or Squad to consoles already!!
