'Cannot join party due to party or player settings'

Since yesterday I can't join parties where one of my friends is in. I can easily join other parties when he isn't in the party but just parties with him in it display that message. This message also displays for him when he tries to join my parties. He is able to join with other accounts but with just his main account he isn't.
