Is there a serious lack of cars in the upcoming Gran Turismo Sport?

Just read an article stating that the new Gran Turismo Sport only has 162 cars available? That’s a fraction compared to the previous GTs and Forza.

I really hope the other cars don’t come out in DLC packs. Quick and easy way to ruin one of the best racing games to ever exist.
