Saving data to put on a new PS4?

This is probably a simple solution/silly question.

I know you can hook up two PS4s and transfer between them, but I won't be able to do that.

In a nutshell, a local store has a deal where I can trade in my 500GB PS4 for a 1TB one. So, when I get the 1TB console home, I will no longer have the old one with all my saves on.

Is saving my data (save files, mainly) as simple as copying them to a USB hard drive then using that to put them on the new console?
