The Vita's remote play function has cured me of getting burnt out by gaming.

In the past months, something odd started to happen where I would sit down in front of the TV and start to feel overwhelmed by my backlog and how each other these games have their own worlds and systems. I even tried to spread out my activity, like going out and playing sports or nature-walking, but coming back to my PS4, it was like gaming had become a chore. Or at least...it wasn't as enjoyable as when I was a teenager/kid?

Earlier in the month I got myself a Vita and configured remote play. The whole thing became this entire game changer. I would go through my entire schedule, then when I'm about to sleep in bed, I'd play maybe 15 minutes of something like Metal Slug 3 or Alien: Isolation. The dynamics of it would make me feel "freshened" up to gaming.

The added bonus that I can connect the Vita directly to the PS4 wireless, without needing a modem is nice. Eventually, I returned to couch gaming, enjoying gaming like I once did when I was 16.

The only downside is how Sony overpriced the propriety memory cards which was kinda irresponsible imo - partially contributing to the Vita's current state in the west. But the remote play function on its own, has made the purchase so worth it. In many games like Watch Dogs 2, you can tell the devs thought through and tested out configuring the other buttons like L3/R3, to make the remote play comfortable and not awkward.

Sorry if my words are a bit all over the place, but I wanted to put in a good word for this.
