What's it like getting into the older GTA games? Do they hold up?

I've been looking at picking up the trilogy on PS4 for some time, but I'm a little worried about how dated they may feel. Are they annoyingly difficult? A little clunkiness is fine, I still play plenty of games from that era. I've only ever played a few hours of Vice City way back in the day and don't remember much.
