Based on some research done by myself and one other it would appear the internal power supply in my PS4 (original, not slim or pro) has given out. Less than 2 years old. Had just finished a crucible match when I went to plug in my controller and my console just shut off. Tried a variety of different trouble shooting options to no avail, it just beeps and blinks once when the power button is pushed and goes no further. Unable to even make it to safe mode options. After reading most of that megathread about the new update I don't think it's related to that, because my console is wholly unresponsive as opposed to just some lack of accessibility.
Making this post because I am curious about what other people think about the swapping the internal power supply. I'm iffy on it since you can't get a first party replacement, and also because I've never had the most faith in my PS4 since I did an internal hard drive swap last February. That hard drive always gave me some issues and died about a month ago, so I swapped back in the original and things didn't return to completely normal. The original swap was the first time I ever did something like that, and while very simple, I was never confident in my ability to think the hardware made it out unscathed.
Is the power supply swap a good option? Or should I cut ties with obviously faulty hardware and take the leap on a new console?
Thanks in advance.
