What if Crash Bandicoot was a new IP in '17?

While I was watching a couple of videos about the remastered I thought: what if our beloved Crash Bandicoot'd have been released now for the first time and never existed before? Could he compete with the actual generation? I honestly think that it would be valued as a indie-like game, a fun game but unknown to the many. Actually a tipical review would write: "Funny game, original design, meaningless plot, only 1 playable character, few hours of gameplay, only at 30fps; 6/10". In the end the title would get heavily discounted and appreciated only by a few players. Imo nowadays players only wants to see open world games with huge graphics, leaving no place for simple titles like Crash, Spyro or Gex. Sometimes we complain about the fact that we want different games and new IP which can surprise us and try to do something different, but I think that we simply are not ready for that.
