YouTube, Internet, and Netflix work fine. My online gaming will not connect though! Any tips?

I've tried connecting on numerous games and for some reason it will not let me into a server. For example with Battlefield 1, I can see all the servers I can get all the way to the end of the connection phase for joining a game but it will never allow me to connect, same with Grand Theft Auto, same with Ghost Recon Wildlands (logged into ubisoft) etc etc. I dont think its a speed issue, I downloaded updates the other day at an average of 4.5-5 megabytes per second. I was wondering if anybody could give me some help figuring this out?

My roommate is a Cisco tech and he says that everything is "wide open" on my internet. I was unable to access Netflix before he did this but I'm still frustrated that I can't play online after paying for a $50 pass.
