controller not charging

I have bought several charging cables and they sit in the controller very loose. one if an official PS4 Sony cable and the other, which fits a little more solidly is a random USB to USB mini. I can wiggle both in the controller and the controller just isn't charging. anyone else experiencing this? Makes it hard to play games!
