PSA: Do NOT buy Friday The 13th!

Friday The 13th has been out for over a month now and I'm sure most of you have heard about this game. I'll give you a summary about the state of the game so far.

The game released on May 26th and costs $40 (mp only game). It had servers issues for 2 WEEKS straight. A lot of people were not able to play the game. Some people couldn't not even get to the main menu because of connection errors. The ones that managed to connect could not find any matches because of the issues. So invite people and play private matches in meantime right? Wrong. Because of the server issues your rank would be reset/stuck at 0, you did not earn any XP or CP.

So 2 weeks later the game is somewhat playable but here comes issue number 2: the game is loaded with bugs and glitches. For example: Players can get on top of roofs, perks are not working, infinite stamina, Jason getting launched across the map etc. Once the host leaves the game ends for everyone. Host gets killed or is upset that he didn't spawn as Jason? Leave, game ends for everyone. People also start grouping up and friends help Jason to kill the other counselors. Nothing you can do about it because there is no way to report them. People glitching into unreachable spots? Nothing you can do because you can't report them. Other counselors teamkill you for no reason at all? They don't get a penalty at all so why would they care.

So you were able to play the game, but the experience was not fun at all. That went on for a long time until some things got patched recently. Reminder: They had a beta test for this game. Why? Nobody knows.

June 23rd we get a 2x XP weekend to make up for the server issues at launch. Guess what? Server issues during the 2x XP that was supposed to make up for the server issues. Oh the irony.

To top it all off, what happened this week (on /r/F13thegame). They updated their ToS and made it possible to report cheating/exploits/harassment (they don't display this in game, so only people that follow their Twitter/Reddit are aware of these rules). http://ift.tt/2tpxcYv

That's a good thing right? Well not in this case. This happened: http://ift.tt/2uywu9b

Friends of the developers were helping Jason and when a guy called them out for it they threatened to get him banned. It turns out the he actually got banned but the ones breaking the rules were not since they're are friends with the devs.

Copy paste from their guidelines: Deliberately Helping Jason - This one is trickier; we will ban the Jason player and those helping Jason for deliberately 'helping' Jason win a match through killing other teammates or working to farm XP.

From the comments by the developers it turns out that this actually happened. They admitted that they know the teamers. They did not get banned. They started removing posts about it too. You can read more about it in the comments of these posts:

tl;dr = The game was broken for 2 weeks at launch, making it unplayable. The game suffered from loads of bugs and exploits after that, making it not enjoyable to play. Now the devs fucked up by banning whoever their friends tell them too. A game dev should never show favoritism. Don't pay $40 for this broken early access game. You can't keep forgiving their bs over and over.

edit: my bad, I didn't know this was Friday the 13th fanboy HQ.
