Question about External HDD

I know there's the megathread, just looked empty and abandoned so thought I'd make a post.

I've been using a Seagate plus 4tb as external HDD with a ps4 slim and it seems like ever since my ps4 has run a lot louder. Anyone else experience this? Anyone have a possible fix?
