A guy threaten to ddos me is it true?

ok so i was playing some siege with a couple of friends and i accidentally tk i guy on our team. he later messaged me "hope you enjoy your ban" and i was like "ok" then he later messaged me that he was going to ip ban me and i have three hours left. can someone tell me if you think is this guy completly trolling or is he being legit and if he is, how can i avoid him
