Headset issue please help, can't find anywhere on the internet

My wired Tritton headset will not work properly anymore. I checked all the plugs and settings and I can even hear my friends when we are in a party, but I can BARELY here any game volume or sound effects. The headset has always worked fine, has anyone had similar issues? I've made sure the output is optical and both Audio output and input are set to the headset
