[Help] My earphones with a built in mic don't input any audio

I've gone onto the "adjust mic level" and can see my voice cant be heard. The only time I can see that it looks like its inputting a sound is when I click the volume or play button on my mic (the sound level spikes, but only from the button press, not the sound of it). Has anyone any idea how to fix?
