How does it work with the PS4 region lock?

Just want to ask this question for somebody who had this experience and could answer this. Did you ever buy a game for PS4 from European or Italy and use it here in USA, did they work? I'm curious to know for DLC like season pass would they work here as well? Or are they region locked?
