I believe it was last week I posted attempting to convince you all to make the switch to NBA Live for a myriad reasons. I have since then played quite a bit of the demo and need to apologize - the game is not ready for your purchase yet (not even at $40 for preordering).
I wanted so badly to like the game (and apparently I wanted the same for you), but the game is just awful. I still stand by my statement that the create a player/The One mode is better, but other than that the game is just bad:
- Trying to get open is awful. If a CPU defender bites on your pump you don't get enough space to get a shot off. CPU defenders also get through a screen way too easy. I literally have taken 1 uncontested shot in about 20 games played.
- Animations are just bad. They have preset animations for a ton of things that feel slow and unresponsive. Everything just seems incredibly delayed and in a game where timing matters this is game breaking. Blocks are delayed, passes are delayed, shooting is delayed - it sucks.
- Controls are clunky and unresponsive AF. Some of this has to do with the above bullet, but I want to focus more on the controls here. Everything is just bad. The moves stick doesn't create any space, you run out of bounds a lot, terrible passes, etc.
That's just a couple of the issues I can think of right off the top of my head.
TL;DR - NBA Live may one day in the future be worth a purchase (2020 maybe!?) but right now it is absolutely terrible and as much as I don't like 2K and their money grab, if you want a basketball game it has to be 2K.
