Just bought No Mans Sky digitally while it's on sale. Could anyone give a new player some tips? I'm someone coming straight from Elite Dangerous.

Hi guys. I just picked up the game since it's on sale. Saw a lot of people praising the state the game is in at this point. Figured why not. I've been playing Elite: Dangerous for the past 5 months and was my first space sim ever. Don't know how much these two games have in common, but I'd love some tips anyone could give me first starting out before I jump in.
