scuf impact - works in menu, but not in games???

hey - got myself a scuf impact (really like that paddle idea for shooters) - but now trying it for the first time it kind of weirds me out.

the buttons (and paddles) work ib the ps4 menue - but once starting a game only home button / touchpad work. non of the square, z, circle, triangle work - normal and paddle version.

any ideas?
