''LAN Cable not connected''

When I start my PS4 it says LAN Cable not connected. When I plug the cable into my laptop it works fine. I went a floor higher yesterday and put my cable into a coupling piece with another cable so it would be long enough to put into my PS4. I hope I explained it right so you guys can understand it.
