Mgsv disc to digital save file

So I have mgsv on disc and now they made it available for free in this months ps plus lineup. So I figured I might as well download the digital version, saving me the hassle of changing disc since I tend to play a lot of nhl which I also have on disc. So my question is if anybody knows if I can continue from my old save game if I uninstall the disc version and install the digital? I heard it depends from game to game so I thought maybe someone else has tried it for mgsv
